1. Is this for real? Yes it's real. Instead of charing you $5 or more for a download, you instead will be shown 2 short advertisements before the game/app starts. Money from the advertisers then is paid to the hard working developers.
2. What are the rules? Download License
3. What if I don't have an unlimited data plan? Unlike other sites, we allow you to pick the sort of advertising you wish to see. You can select low data rate text advertising instead of high data rate image advertisements.
4. I don't know my phone's screen size (help!)? Download to your phone the ScreenSize application at: ScreenSize. This will report your phone's canvas size, which is usually the same as your phone's screen size. Pick games/apps that use an equal or smaller size than this. (Motorola and a few other phones have slightly smaller canvas sizes to give room for a status bar.)
5. How do I get the game/app onto my phone? These are the most common ways:
a. With your phone's web/wap browser, go to www.goboygames.com and download the game/app directly to your phone.
b. Use a phone uploader. We recommend these two: The Rumkin Uploader and The PCS Cruz-Network Uploader. We've had the best success in not using the phone number/SMS method, but instead leaving that blank and following the directions to use our phone's web/wap browser to enter a code. (Obviously, use at your own risk.)
c. Some phones can store games/apps on a memory card or transfer them to the phone by using a data cable.
6. Can I test out the game/app before uploading it to my phone? There are several phone emulators on the Internet that can be installed on your PC. One of them is the Sun Java Wireless Toolkit, available at www.sun.com. (Note: In order for the game/app to run on an emulator, you may need to edit the line in the .jad file 'MIDlet-Jar-URL:' to only have the name of the .jar file, removing the 'http://' path from the front of it.)
7. Why doesn't the game/app display/operate completely correctly on my phone? There are several thousand different phone models released around the world. They support many different control schemes, screen sizes, languages, and have many other differences. Few developers can afford to test on more than a few of these and NO developer can afford to test on all. We suggest that if the game/app runs 'good enough', then to simply enjoy it.
